Museums' power—the power of a location and a tale that binds us to the past

We visit museums to slip for a while into the world of culture and art, learn something new and feel the atmosphere of a different era. My journey to the museum was an opportunity to further define my own taste, it was a quest for beauty, truth, and purpose in my daily life.

From the outside, this structure appears to be a wealthy family's villa, but as we ascended the stairs, we encountered a completely different world. It was my first time there, and it was breathtaking.

I had the impression that the artefacts were each telling us a separate story. Each one had a unique significance and name, as well as being made differently than the others. Goddess on the Throne-The figurine depicts a female deity, symbolising the great mother idol's cult. This was one of the most precious archaeological artefacts that I’ve seen. My initial thought was that the figurine was smaller than it appeared in the photos, but I was also wondering about how many amazing values could be included in such a compact structure.

The visit to the Ethnological Museum of Kosovo was thrilling as well as an enriching experience for me. It was one of the richest experiences of my life to have seen and experienced a lot of things in the museum.

Walking inside these massive oak doors and seeing those old yet lovely artefacts that reveal a side of our history and culture piqued my interest. Many trees could be seen outside the houses. It was very serene.

As we walked in we were approached by a young man who invited us to view the inside of the house. We followed him, and he explained that the door where we were staying was for the family members, but the door on the other side of the home was for the guests.

The rest of the house was made up of typically Albanian rooms, huge living rooms and an oda, as is our tradition. The dining room had a modest table and a lot of vessels. We climbed the wooden stairs on the right side of the chamber, leading us into the adjoining room. I noticed a cradle there, which reminded me of my childhood and that of my siblings, as we were all raised in similar cradles. The part where the elder males were supposed to have stayed was in another room. I could easily imagine a group of ten or fifteen men drinking tea and discussing their work throughout the day. Women and children were not permitted in the "oda", since the men speak, have political conversations, and sing epic songs till late at night in the oda.

A part that is stuck in my head, was the clothing of women from Hasi. It was the first time I had a close look at their clothes and i was amazed. Looking at this clothing, I was thinking about how beautiful an Albanian woman would look in it and how rich our culture is.

Museums preserve and display important cultural, artistic, historical, or scientific relics. Simply said, visiting museums allowed me to learn, be inspired, and connect with the past. It was deeply moving to see the vast storehouse of our country’s ancient glory. This visit to the National Museum has left a lingering impression on my mind.
