Take a mental picture tour with me in two artistic destinations!

Hello dear reader!

As you can see from the title I have visited two captivating locations in Prishtina. The exploration of my peacefulness through the eye shots that these destinations provided are worth writing for. Prishtina has many exciting locations regarding artistic establishments for one’s leisure. I had a few options in my hands but I was intrigued to visit The Ethnological Museum of Kosovo and The National Gallery of Kosovo. As it was my first time visiting these two institutions I truly got delighted and looked forward to seeing Albanian’s antique culture and  creative works of art. A lot of artifacts caught my attention and my face had this look of astonishment during the two tours.

The Ethnological Museum of Kosovo was my first location. As I entered the alley; to my right was this old passage of cracked concrete that lead my three friends and I. First, I came across this old door who time had taken advantage of. I entered and continued my way into the garden of the museum. The weather was burning hot but the draft there made me feel tranquility. It was calm and the voices of the curators were coming from a distance. Firstly, I hesitated to ask them about the museum but fortunately they approached me and gave me directions. The atmosphere was lovely and this ancient smell was everywhere. I entered a small house that was available for visitors and immediately felt in a different time period. The door made a creaking sound and here I was standing in an ancient living room. Everything looked delicate and the maintenance by the museum was evident. The images troubled my realization towards the fascination how times have changed. I felt like an alien there because my clothes and especially my living conditions did not match at all with the  room. I knew I did not belong there yet continued with my tour…

I was reminded of my grandmother’s stories of my ancestor’s life when I saw the small table with the steel dishes, the wooden wall décor, the cradles, and most importantly the traditional clothes. I felt detached from our modern era and wondered how it would have been to have lived in those four walls. On the other hand The National Gallery of Kosovo got the most unexpected reactions from me. The amount of creativity that the artists had put was extravagant. I remember getting lost in some works and could not come with an interpretation.  In the first floor the gallery of photography was present and the reflection from the projectors made authenticity culminate.

There I felt as if I was in space and everything was quiet. The works of art complemented the view and gave me chills when I would think of the author’s hard work into accomplishing them. While I was about to enter the second floor I screamed a little because the wolf caught my attention and I panicked. I did not dare to enter the room. I had to close my eyes and make a run to the other part of the gallery. There, I stumbled the unicorn statue that made me panic and feel anxious  because the room was dark and small. At the end of the day it is fascinating how art can affect one’s emotions. It truly was a weird experience that made me reflect on myself that places that take me out of my comfort zone are the ones to find one’s self; therefore I highly recommend visiting these places.
