A day back in time

 A day back in time!

We're all fascinated by new technologies and devices. Imagine what it would be like if we could travel back in time for a day. That’s what I did last week when I went to Kosovo Museum in Pristina and saw all the things there it made me think of the old days, how people lived, worked, what kind of tools they used to drink, eat, etc. In this museum, I found a lot of interesting things that made me feel ancient in some kind of way.

We all know in the past, people used different tools and resources than we do today, for instance, they used horses, carts, and sticks. They also used rocks to cook with and make fires with, but when I entered there, dishes made from plaster and bronze caught my eyes on my left. They were made in the 1st to 4th centuries. Even though people didn’t have many types of equipment to do such things back in that time, they still managed to make them with design and look beautiful. I really enjoyed as I looked at them.

As I was walking furthermore I encountered some other dishes from the Eneolithic era made from copper. There were some plates and ladles which were quite similar to our current time. I was fascinated as I watched each one of them. It was interesting to see that the dishes in the museum from the past are still used nowadays with the exact same shape.

Continuing to walk and looking one by one at the historical artifacts of this museum I noticed some gold bracelets, a gold ring with the inscription "Probila", gold earrings as well as pendants made of glass pearls. There were also rings and bracelets made of steel that looked quite attractive. Even though they are thousands of years old, these are still in use because of the historical meaning they present. People want to wear them as part of their identity despite of the evolution of modern trends. Moreover, it was also the bust of the Dardanian goddess sculpted in marble that was presented so beautifully that I thought I was next to her.

It is worth mentioning the great impression that had on me was to see the bottles made of glass were used by widows to maintain their tears of grief on them. This way people acknowledged their pain for their lost husbands. The one that had a bigger bottle it meant she suffered more than the one that had smaller ones.

We do not think a lot about the past that our people have lived, but it is significant to pay a visit to a museum and see from up close and compare it with nowadays life and the possibilities that are offered to us that make our life easier. I am glad of the decision I made to visit the museum because it gave me a clear view of the past and makes me cherish the values of my people and culture.
