Discovering new things in a place I thought I would never

"Isn't it silly how you walk every day past places that hold pieces of evidence of your own history but you never think of vising them and decide to ignore them"- These were the words that I had in my mind after my visit to the National Museum of Kosova in Prishtina.

Since I had to visit the museum for an assignment I discovered new things and regret the fact that I didn't go there earlier. Before entering the museum I was already in love with how the building looked from the outside. The vibrant color such as yellow looked amazing and grabbed my attention. Also, the architecture of the building gave me a feeling as if I wasn't in Prishtina, but as if I was visiting a different country somewhere else.

While being inside the first corner that I and my friends went to was the Antique. I felt stunned seeing all these vases, and medallions, built in a perfect way. I thought to myself, how could they make all these antique, beautiful things in such a great way, how could they be so creative?
Moving further, what I liked more and had a bit of          Picture taken by meknowledge about was the terracotta. I always loved how the terracotta figurine looked but seeing it from close was such an amazing feeling. I just wished I could grab it and have it in my hands.

Next, while walking through we came across the “Illyrian Period”. I was fascinated by the bust of the Dardanian goddess sculpted in marble. It was sculpted that awesome as if it was real. Near to it, what I loved most were the jewelry, the bracelets, a golden ring, and the necklaces. Looking at them, I only wished I could try them and have them. To me, they looked prettier and wealthier than diamonds.

After that, we went to the most important period for us Kosovans. The period of UCK war.

We walked across the clothes that our heroes wore while in the war, and fell in love. We realized that each cloth held stories and had significance. Such as the UCK  soldiers' uniforms and automatic gun, and Shaban Polluzha’s coat.

Also, I saw the uniform of the first Albanian-American pilot Faruza Kallaba, which I haven’t even heard of her before, and felt ashamed of myself.

By the end of this trip, I learned that I should focus more on visiting places that deal with Kosovo’s history and the past. The feelings you get while seeing and experiencing things that your ancestors had already been through it is just something that you cannot put into words. Imagining that they sacrificed themselves just so we could be here today gives me goosebumps.

Most importantly, this trip made me realize that I love learning about our history, the struggles that our people had, and how their life was put into objects that to this day live and tell a lot.
