Visit to the glass museum of Pristina

I have never been to a museum before, and today I got to learn a lot of new information about how life used to be millenniums ago. It’s fascinating how people back then created artifacts that today are stored in museums as ancient relics they are. I enjoyed my trip to one of Pristina’s museums, the way that these relics are stored and protected is very interesting. They are sealed within a big square of glass so that the relics don’t come in contact with the air as it can ruin them.

When I first went to the museum, I wasn’t aware of the way these artifacts are stored and protected but then I found out that they can be destroyed if they stay in contact with air. I didn’t even know there are such museums in Kosovo, so as a first-time visit I was amazed by the information I learned. There were such amazing and interesting designs of cups, rings, plates, bracelets, necklaces, etc.

Each of these artifacts had an interesting history, like some cups that were made to hold tears when someone died, and the bigger the cup and the more tears it had it represented the love of the person that cried for the one that died.

There were some tombs as well that were found centuries ago in Ulpian, here in Pristina. They had some interesting shapes and I am just amazed how people could create them because some were made out of a few squares of stones. Also, there was one made out of iron, and it is interesting because it was made back centuries ago, and I can’t help but think of how they knew to make tombs of iron.

This museum might seem to some that it holds nothing but simple antiques and it might not seem interesting, but to me, it looked like it holds the most precious treasures that a country can have. These antiques and artifacts hold in themselves the history of our nation and civilization. Those are the remains of centuries of evolution and civilization and history that happened in Kosovo. To me, they didn’t look like simple remains that are found somewhere in a dip and brought to the museum, those are the remains of what our predecessors left and in themselves, they hold such great value that they cant be bought with money.

We are well aware of where our predecessors lived, and we pretty much know the era or age they used to live, and by seeing these artifacts, I get a clear idea of the life they had, and the struggles they have been through.

The artifacts that fascinated me the most were the notes written on the stone tablets that have survived to this age, the coins as well, they have a similar shape to today’s coins but they are more precious because when they were forged, many of them are lost and a few that I saw in the museum have survived. The neckless as well, they look so beautiful and I can only imagine the experience people back then had while wearing those.

I really got amazed by what I learned and saw in the museum today, and I can't express the emotions I felt when I saw all those ancient artifacts and antiques. I am glad I got to visit this museum and in the future, I will visit more museums like this and even bigger ones, like the one I visited 2 years ago in the Castle of Kruja in Albania. It was a splendid experience that I hope to experience again in other museums.
