Will you travel back in time with me?
If I had a superpower that would be traveling back in time. I would like to see how my ancestors lived and what made my culture the way it is today. I know that being gifted by having this superpower is impossible, but I found a way to feel like this dream came true. It may look strange to you but visiting some of the museums in my country helped me to feel like I am traveling in time.
On the 18th May of 2022, my friends and I decided to go to the National Museum of Kosovo. We wanted to experience this visit together and by far this is the best decision we have ever made.
While walking through the museum I was fascinated by the lights and the red walls. Also, the glass that was there to keep the stuff safe was really impressive. They complemented each other perfectly. This place seemed really peaceful even though it holds thousands of stories, secrets, sorrows and happy moments experienced centuries ago.
Something
that caught my attention was a glass of water but back in time it was used for
something else. People used it to drop their tears on the glass when they
missed someone, they had respect for. Also, they dropped the tears inside it
when someone they loved died. It really touched my heart because I cannot
imagine how much pain they must have gone through. It felt like I was watching
a movie based on a true story.
While
exploring the museum and being always in an attempt to discover new things I
came across some necklaces and earrings. I was impressed because they belonged
to the 12-15 Century, but they were so similar to the ones we buy today. I
realized that mode is just going back to what it was decades even centuries ago.
There was a dish made of ceramic glaze, it was green and I have never seen something like that before. It looked aesthetic and different from the plates we are used to seeing. It made me think about the fact that my ancestors were really hardworking and creative despite the conditions they lived in. Also, seeing a lot of dishes and glass, I realized that us, Albanians, are fans of eating and drinking. There were so many pots I was surprised.
On the other side of the museum there were some fossils but there was no name written on the glass, therefore I couldn’t find out to whom these fossils belonged to. I was thinking about what happened to that person, what story he/she holds. Did he/she go through a lot or did he/she live life to the fullest. It gave me creepy vibes because I will never know what really happened. That could be another reason for wanting to be gifted with a superpower.
I
really enjoyed this visit at the museum. It really made me discover things I
never imagined before and I learnt more about our past as a Nation. Also, it
was as a lesson to remind me that I should keep exploring new things and never
stop visiting new places.
